Best of the Fest

“Wow” is the only word we can think of to describe MUSICwestport 2017! From the smash hit of The PepTides at Friday’s kick-off party to the perfect weather and continuous summer sounds from new bands and old favourites. We want to thank everyone who participated in the event from our artists, sponsors, volunteers, and, of course, all those who travelled to Westport to enjoy the music and so much more! See you all next year!

Volunteer of the Year

sarah1

Westport Arts Council recognizes and celebrates our VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR 2016!
Ms. Sarah Bonner is Westport Arts Council’s Volunteer of the year.
Sarah has been volunteering for us for over four years. She manages our social media and is responsible for our amazing website and now our print media. Her creative talent, hours of work, computer skills, sense of humour and patience are an integral part of our team. The hours Sarah spends on keeping us linked with the broader audience while living and working abroad as a writer and professional athlete has increased our social presence and made an impact on our arts community.
“Volunteering for WAC allows me to give back to my home town even though I am not there all the time. I have always considered Westport my home base and recognize how important the arts are. WAC is a great group of people and a fun team to work with.” says Sarah.
A heartfelt “Thank you!” goes out to Sarah for giving so much and expecting nothing in return. A true volunteer!
Sarah was also recognized in August as WAC’s volunteer for The Village of Westport.

Hoe Down Roundup

The WAC Hoe Down was a fun-filled family day full of music, food, and furry friends. We were also proud to celebrate our sponsors and volunteers who have donated generously to make WAC all that it is and can be. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Fun, food and gratitude.

WAC warmly welcomed a large crowd at the Volunteer Appreciation Evening at The Cove last week. To the musical sounds of Stephanie Doornekamp (and a few special guests along with our winner of “The VOICE”), we all tucked into a generous spread of delicious food provided Marty Hawkins and The Cove while WAC shared their gratitude with the great many volunteers, sponsors and board members that make WAC successful.

Taking stock of the year’s events, each one would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of  so many volunteers. From the ticket sellers, fundraisers, bbq-bosses, greeters, idea-generators, t-shirt sellers, graphic designers and photographers to the stage-builders, telephone call-makers, email-repliers, drivers, cleaners, decorators, and poster putter-uppers, the success of our events and programs are from your efforts. Special thanks goes out from WAC and the Village of Westport  to Volunteer of the Year, Mrs. Marianne Roberts, who not only generously donates her time but does so with boundless energy and joy.

We also took the opportunity to shine a spotlight on our sponsors who generously gave to support the arts in all forms from our youth school programs to the ever-popular MusicWestport Festival. From individuals and families in the community to local business sponsors, we value your donations that have allowed WAC to promote and provide arts in all formats within Westport. For some of our local business sponsors and service clubs, 2014 marked five years they have been supportive of WAC and it’s their steady contributions that have allowed WAC to extend our reach in the community:

Tangled Garden

Barker Wilson Law Offices

Lower Mountain Mechanical

Seasons of Westport

Jake by the Lake

Westport Lions Club

Special thanks goes out to this year’s…

Patron of the Arts:

 Seasons of Westport

MusicWestport Main Stage Sponsor:

Jake by the Lake

…for their above and beyond contributions.

WAC also recognized the panel of board members who donate time, brain power, and multitude of skills on a regular basis to imagine and implement the various WAC programs and events throughout the year. There were so long meetings, long days, and even longer nights but it was all worth it!

Last but not least, WAC would like to thank the residents of Westport and each person who participated or attended a WAC event. Not only do we strive to bring arts in all forms to our community but we channel the funds from tickets and donations back into more events, school programs and local projects for the pleasure of Westport. And to all of those that came from here and there to enjoy and then donated through loose change or a purchase, we thank you. To all our members who took out memberships, we thank you! It was an amazing year!

With gratitude to all volunteers, sponsors, board members and supporters, 2014 was pretty awesome!
